About Focus

Focus creates a blurred overlay around your active window, keeping the task you are working on clear while softening surrounding distractions. The effect follows your active window as you switch between applications. Tray controls let you adjust window-shadow visibility, customise the exit shortcut, and close Focus. Preferences are saved locally, and desktop processing takes place on your computer. Focus is free proprietary software from DarkSoft, with no purchase or subscription required. The blur is a visual aid, not a privacy or redaction tool: screenshots, recordings, and screen sharing may show the underlying desktop without the blur.

System requirements

• Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11
• Intel/AMD x64 or ARM64 processor with the matching installer
• Graphics hardware and drivers supporting OpenGL 3.3
• Recommended free disk space: 250 MB
• No separate .NET runtime installation required

Installation

1. Choose Windows x64 for Intel/AMD PCs, or Windows ARM64 for ARM-based PCs
2. Run the downloaded .exe installer
3. Review and accept the EULA, acknowledge the source code terms, and complete setup
4. Launch Focus using the desktop shortcut or Start menu
5. Use the Focus system tray icon to adjust settings or exit
6. Press F8 to exit using the default shortcut, or configure another shortcut from the tray menu
